After years of late night cramming, questionable caffeine consumption and sobbing into textbooks that cost a property down-payment, you've finally reached the ever elusive graduation day.
Honestly, for most of us, the graduation outfit is the final huzzah to college life as you embark on the next leg of adulthood (will somebody please make it stop?!). You'll probably find yourself staring into your closet and realizing you have nothing to wear -- your club rat outfits are a no-go, and that job interview-appropriate gear you borrowed from your sister is the last thing you want to be seen in at the ceremony.
Nope - it's going to have to be something of a show-stopper but tasteful enough that your mum doesn't spend the entire ceremony telling you to cover yourself up. Besides, the goal is that when you finally post it up on Instagram you can breach that 100 likes goal (#blessed).
We gotchu, girl. Here's three fool-proof looks to save you the incoming migraine that is outfit preparation for graduation day!
You can't go wrong with a crisp, all-white ensemble. These work best because no matter what colour-way your grad gowns are, it's guaranteed to pop underneath your cape and looks great on all skin tones. Pair with one or two focus accessories and red-bottom heels and you're ready to slay!
Normally we're against black + pants ensemble for special occasions, but you can get away with this at your graduation ceremony if it's tied together with a statement piece. We're obsessed with this top because it's unique and can be effortlessly accessorized. The best thing is, you can focus on one or two colours and pump this up with some fleek af lipstick and heels. Also, we're obsessed with the velvet choker and seriously just wanted any chance to include this in our outfit recommendations.
If you've never been the subtle type, look out for bright-coloured pieces and finish up with some glam accessories. We're about that extra bling (even the heels have some shine and we're here for it). We're obsessed with the coat as well - either something to throw over your shoulders if it gets a little chilly, or part of the entire ensemble. You'd want something that goes with the whole #ootd, but still look like a stunner with it off. Every piece should have something to say and work cohesively.
Whatever you end up choosing, it's always the outfit and shoes that you feel most fabulous in that makes you look amazing. There's really no rules around how you choose to express yourself, least of all on your graduation day. It's all about you, sis.
Congratulations and all the best! #slay
